Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa Scheme Re-Activated

On March 26th, 2025 the Cypriot Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection announced the re-activation of the current Digital Nomad Visa Scheme (‘DNVS‘), by permitting the submission of new applications. The quota of 500 visas which was set in March 2022, has been extended and 500 additional digital nomad visas will be available to any eligible applicants and their families.

What is the DNVS’s aim?

Quoting the Deputy Ministry’s official announcement, “the Scheme’s goal is to strengthen Cyprus as a centre for the provision of electronic services, where in combination with the other advantages offered by Cyprus, the attraction of digital nomads will contribute to the development of the business ecosystem and consequently to the economic development of the country.”

Am I eligible?

Both non-EU or non-EEA nationals are eligible to apply for the DNVS provided that:

  • They are able to work remotely through telecommunications technology;

  • They can prove that they have stable and sufficient monthly net income of at least €3.500 (after the deduction of contributions and taxes).

Why should I apply for the DNVS?

A Digital Nomad Visa comes with the following benefits:

  • Right of residence for one (1) year in Cyprus, with a possibility of renewal for further two (2) years.
  • Right of residence for family members, for the same period as the Digital Nomad, without the right to be employed of perform economic activity in Cyprus.
  • Provided that the Digital Nomad may prove residence in the Republic’s territory for one continuous or, multiple periods of time which exceed 183 days in total  within the same tax year, and provided that he/she is not a tax resident in a different jurisdiction, the Digital Nomad may be registered as tax residents of Cyprus and benefit from the country’s taxation rates.
  • Provided they obtain a temporary residence permit, the Digital Nomad’s immediate family members (i.e. spouse, partner in civil union and any underaged children) may also benefit from the DNVS as they will be permitted to reside in Cyprus for the same period as the Digital Nomad, without the right to be employed of perform any economic activity in Cyprus.
